Job Summary
The Interim Library Services Specialist position is responsible for maintaining acquisitions, inter-library loans, and assisting with circulation management and copy cataloging in support of Sheridan College and its students, faculty, and staff. The Specialist position will assist the SC Director of Library Services with general library functions, including database management, academic support services, and supervision of student positions. In addition, this position will assist students, staff, and community with routine operation of library equipment, such as basic troubleshooting of computers, printers, scanners, and other equipment. This position requires time covering the circulation desk and test proctoring.
This is an interim position that will run July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027.

Education/Qualifications
- Associate degree required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Microsoft Word and Excel at intermediate level and comfort with learning new equipment and technology
- Commitment to positive customer service experiences
- Written and oral communication
- Work independently and with curiosity
- Work as a productive team member
Preferred knowledge:
- SIRSI integrated library system
- WYLD organization
- Online research databases
- Common library practices and procedures, including interlibrary loan, library systems
- Familiarity with bibliographic records
- Experience with student/patron information as well as Learning Management Systems
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Frequent interruptions
- Ability to reach overhead, crouch and lift up to 35 pounds
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
- Long periods of time working with computers
- Schedule could include a combination of days/nights and possible occasional weekend hours
