Interior Design Assistant w/ CAD skills

Job Overview
Freelance interior design assistant needed to support project development from conceptual sketches to detailed layouts, Millwork elevations, admin and budget maintenance, and some client interfacing in person and via Zoom. Proficiency in CAD software and flexible in person and remote availability required. This is a single job/project opportunity to support a residential interior design job in SoHo, NY. Project span estimated May 2026-November 2026

Duties

• Assist in developing conceptual layouts and detailed drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D, and/or 3ds Max.
• Support project management tasks including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with contractors for renovation and remodeling projects.
• Contribute to lighting design concepts, including selecting creating lighting plans aligned with interior aesthetics and functionality.
• Collaborate w/ GC and architect on drafting construction documents for bathroom renovation.
• Participate in client meetings to present layout proposals, gather feedback, and refine concepts based on client needs.
• Assist with site visits and zoom calls to oversee renovation progress, ensure adherence to design intent, and facilitate communication between clients and contractors. Estimating 1-4 on site visits and 1-4 client Zoom meetings for duration of project.

Requirements

• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D, 3ds Max, and Bluebeam for drafting and visualization purposes.
• Strong knowledge of interior design principles including color theory, space planning, lighting design, and remodeling processes.
• Experience with project management tasks like budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating construction or renovation activities.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 10 per week
