We are seeking an experienced and driven Interior Design Engineer to lead the design and development of interior systems, including instrument panels (IP) and trim components. This role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of engineering projects from concept through production, driving innovation and quality in every phase of the development cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Design & Development: Oversee the complete lifecycle of interior component development—from initial concept to production—using proven automotive development methodologies.
  • Hands-On CAD Design: Create detailed 3D models and drawings using CATIA V5, both independently and by guiding supplier engineers or CAD modelers.
  • Packaging & Layout Studies: Conduct design studies to optimize fit, form, and function within the vehicle architecture.
  • Project Management: Balance multiple priorities to achieve targets related to schedule, performance, cost, and quality while ensuring design integrity.
  • Problem Solving & Process Improvement: Identify and visualize design issues, gaps, and risks, driving continuous improvement and reflection throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and global affiliates to ensure seamless communication and project alignment.
  • Travel: Travel to suppliers and manufacturing sites in North America and abroad as needed to support development and production readiness.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in engineering design for interior components.
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience with CATIA V5.
  • Proven project management experience in an engineering environment.
  • Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work up to 20% overtime as needed.

Projected Total Compensation: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
