The role in one sentence
You'll spend your days walking the floor, sitting next to people doing real work, and using Replit to make our ERP take that work off their plate — shipping improvements live, often, and without asking permission.
What this role actually is
Most companies treat their internal software like a sacred artifact: change requests go into a queue, a committee meets, a vendor gets paid, and six months later something kind of works. We do the opposite. We own Oscar. It's built and maintained on Replit, which means anyone with curiosity and good judgment can ship a real improvement before lunch. We need someone whose full-time job is doing exactly that.
This is not a coding job. You will not be writing Python or SQL by hand. But you'll be working alongside an AI development environment that does, and you need to genuinely respect what's happening underneath — databases hold real data, interfaces shape how 100+ people spend their day, and a careless change can ripple. Healthy curiosity beats credentials every time.
What you'll do
- Embed with every team — purchasing, production, QC, shipping, HR, sales, engineering. Sit with them. Watch them work. Ask "why" until you understand the actual job, not the org chart version of it.
- Find the friction. Spreadsheets emailed around. Things printed and re-typed. People waiting on people. Workarounds nobody documented. That's your raw material.
- Build the fix in Oscar. Use Replit to design the screen, model the data, wire up the workflow. Ship it. See if it sticks. Iterate.
- Release multiple times a day. No change advisory boards. No two-week sprints. If it's better than what's there and won't break anything, it goes out. If it's wrong, we fix it forward.
- Own the consequences. Talk to the people using what you shipped. If they're confused, that's on you. If they love it, that's on you too.
- Keep Oscar coherent. As the surface area grows, someone has to care about consistency, naming, and not turning the system into a junk drawer. That's you.
What we're looking for
- Relentless curiosity. You're the person who, when something seems weird, has to know why. You read manuals for fun. You ask the cashier how the POS handles refunds.
- Business sense. You can tell the difference between a real problem and someone's pet annoyance. You think about cost, throughput, and what actually moves the needle.
- A healthy respect for software. You don't need to write code, but you should understand that a database is not a spreadsheet, that a button placement matters, and that "it works on my machine" is not done.
- Bias for shipping. You'd rather release a 70% solution today and improve it tomorrow than release a 100% solution next quarter.
- Comfort with AI tools. You'll be pair-working with Replit's AI agent constantly. You should enjoy that, not resent it.
- Willingness to be wrong in public. Daily releases means daily small mistakes. You handle that without drama.
