IoT Specialist

The Opportunity:

As an IoT / Hardware Specialist, you will be supporting the development and deployment of Packaging Solutions’ connected SaaS platform. This platform will interact with various hardware devices to provide a robust solution for tracking sensor enabled packaging throughout a product’s supply chain.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with key sensor technologies like RFID and BLE as well as hardware devices used to read, write, and detect sensors.
This position will be responsible for identifying and evaluating emerging hardware technologies that will provide Packaging Solutions with a competitive advantage.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock Packaging Solutions:

Work with customers, partners, and others in identifying hardware needs for specific solution implementations.
Work with hardware providers to establish partnerships or reseller agreements.
Work with software engineers to understand capabilities of various hardware devices and how those devices can augment the Saas platform.
Work with Product Operations to provide Packaging Solutions customers with hardware recommendations for specific use cases.
Create documentation of hardware capabilities and limitations for Packaging Solutions approved hardware devices.
Work with Engineering and user community to define and develop testing plans to validate hardware solutions meet customer requirements.
Provide direction for conducting site surveys at customer locations to determine optimal hardware configurations.
Act as subject matter expert for sensor technologies used in Packaging Solutions connected packaging.
Provide customers with recommendations for appropriate sensor technologies for specific use cases.
Support Sales and Business Development efforts with customer visits, in-person plant audits, slideware and thought leadership to generate connected packaging revenue and margin for the organization.

What you need to succeed:

BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required.
Must have 5+ years of hardware or IoT experience; experience in configuring / deploying solutions in diverse environments a plus.
Ability to lead projects and coordinate activities through a diverse group of people including internal co-workers, as well as, external contractors and consultants. The ability to coordinate and guide collaboration is especially critical.
Experience with multiple desktop and mobile operating systems and web browsers.
Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external customers.
