ITALIAN PIZZA CHEF

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Italian Pizza Chef to join our culinary team. The Pizza Chef will be responsible for preparing authentic Italian-style pizzas, managing the pizza station, ensuring food quality, and maintaining high hygiene standards. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of traditional Italian pizza-making techniques, ingredients, and baking methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a wide range of Italian-style pizzas, including Neapolitan, Roman, and gourmet variations.
• Manage dough preparation: mixing, kneading, proofing, stretching, and shaping according to authentic Italian standards.
• Handle pizza toppings, sauces, cheeses, and high-quality ingredients.
• Operate and maintain pizza ovens (wood-fired / gas / electric) at optimal temperatures.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, and consistency for every order.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pizza station and adhere to food safety & hygiene guidelines.
• Develop new pizza recipes and seasonal menu items.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service.
• Check inventory, request ingredients, and ensure proper stock levels.
• Train junior staff on pizza preparation and oven handling.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Italian Pizza Chef or Pizza Maker in a restaurant or pizzeria.
• Strong knowledge of Italian pizza-making techniques, including dough fermentation and oven handling.
• Ability to work under pressure during busy hours.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with wood-fired oven operation.
• Knowledge of Italian cuisine beyond pizza (pasta, breads, antipasti).
• Culinary diploma or certification (optional but preferred).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods during service.
• Ability to lift up to 15–20 kg (flour bags, dough trays).
