Position Title: JCB Operator

Department: Heavy Equipment / Site Operations

Location: Various Project Sites

Reports To: Foreman / Site Engineer / Equipment Supervisor

1. Position Summary

The JCB Operator is responsible for operating JCB machines (backhoe loaders) to carry out excavation, loading, backfilling, grading, lifting, and general earthmoving tasks. The role requires safe operation, technical skill, and adherence to project specifications and HSE guidelines.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Equipment Operation

• Operate JCB (backhoe/loader) to perform excavation, trenching, loading, lifting, grading, and general earthworks.
• Perform pre-start equipment checks (fuel, oil, hydraulics, tires, brakes, lights).
• Excavate trenches for cables, pipes, foundations, and other civil works according to instructions.
• Load materials such as sand, gravel, aggregates, and debris into trucks safely.
• Assist with backfilling, compacting, and leveling operations.
• Handle machine attachments such as buckets, breakers, and forks safely.

B. Site Coordination

• Follow instructions from the Foreman and Site Engineer regarding levels, excavation lines, and safe work zones.
• Work closely with banksmen, helpers, and truck drivers to ensure smooth and safe operations.
• Operate the machine carefully in confined or crowded construction areas.

C. Safety & Compliance

• Comply with all site safety rules, HSE procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Conduct pre- and post-operation safety checks and ensure the machine is in safe working condition.
• Avoid operating near overhead cables, underground services, unsafe edges, or unprotected excavations.
• Report immediately any incidents, unsafe acts, or near misses to the HSE Officer.

D. Machine Care & Maintenance

• Clean the machine at the end of each shift and ensure it is kept in good condition.
• Report breakdowns, defects, or maintenance needs to the Equipment Supervisor.
• Ensure proper fueling, lubrication, and daily inspections.
• Avoid misuse, overloading, or unsafe handling of the JCB.

E. Documentation

• Complete daily log sheets, fuel records, and inspection checklists.
• Assist the equipment department with service records and maintenance planning.

3. Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a JCB Operator in construction projects.
• Valid UAE Heavy Equipment Operating License for JCB/backhoe loaders.
• Experience in infrastructure, civil works, utilities, or road works is preferred.

Skills

• Strong operating skills for backhoe and loader functions.
• Ability to read basic site markings, levels, and instructions.
• Good hand-eye coordination and control precision.
• Knowledge of excavation safety and underground utility precautions.

Physical Requirements

• Fit to operate heavy machinery for extended hours.
• Comfortable working outdoors in hot and dusty conditions.

5. Additional Notes

• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and in remote project sites if required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: AED1,500.00 - AED2,000.00 per month

Experience:

• JCB Operator in construction projects: 5 years (Required)

License/Certification:
