Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Joinery Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating joinery works, including materials, labor, and project costs. The Joinery Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate and timely cost estimates for joinery projects, ensuring that projects are financially viable and aligned with client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation:
  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for joinery works, including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Review and analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and client requirements to develop comprehensive cost plans.
  • Material Take-Offs:
  • Conduct material take-offs from drawings and specifications to calculate quantities of joinery materials required for the project.
  • Tender Preparation:
  • Prepare and submit tenders for joinery projects by providing accurate cost breakdowns and ensuring that all aspects of the project are accounted for.
  • Assist in the review of subcontractor quotations and ensure they align with project requirements.
  • Cost Control:
  • Monitor and track costs during the project lifecycle, ensuring the project stays within the estimated budget.
  • Identify and report on any discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
  • Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination:
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for joinery materials and services.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of quality materials.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks or cost overruns and provide solutions to mitigate financial issues on projects.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and project managers to understand project specifications, timelines, and cost expectations.
  • Assist in presenting estimates and cost breakdowns to clients for approval.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of all estimates, including quantities, pricing, and correspondence.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for project management and clients.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Joinery Estimator in a construction or joinery-specific role.
  • Strong experience in estimating costs for joinery works, including woodwork, cabinetry, and interior fit-outs.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Buildertrend, or similar) and MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong knowledge of joinery materials, construction techniques, and standards.
  • Certifications:
  • Professional certifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are a plus but not essential.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience with high-end joinery, residential, or commercial projects.
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in joinery and interior design.
