Position Announcement - Judicial Attorney:
The Third District Court of Appeals of Ohio is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Judicial Attorney to support the legal and administrative functions of the Court. This role plays a critical part in the opinion-writing process, case review, and the overall operation of chambers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional legal research and writing abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to manage a substantial and varied caseload with accuracy and professionalism.
Minimum Qualifications
· Graduation from an accredited law school with strong academic standing
· Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio or registered to sit for the February 2025 Ohio Bar Exam
· Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
· High level of proficiency in computer applications and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating sound professional judgment
· Strong self-discipline, organization, and attention to detail
Preferred Attributes
· Experience with appellate procedure or judicial internships/clerkships
· Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal issues under time constraints
· Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
· Proven commitment to high-quality legal analysis and public service
Any successful candidate must be able to work independently, collaboratively, and with self-discipline to meet the necessary completion of goals and contribute to the overall work of the court.
This is a State of Ohio exempt, unclassified position. The Court is an at-will and an equal opportunity employer.
Schedule: First Shift, Monday-Friday
Deadline: December 22, 2025
Pay and Benefits: Starting Salary $89,000 with full State of Ohio Benefits Package.
Education:
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) Required
· Ohio Bar Admission (or pending February 2025 Bar Results)
