K-3 Library Teacher - Part Time
Christian Heritage School is a thriving academically and spiritually rigorous Christian day school located in Southern Connecticut. With almost 400 students, it is one of the largest K-12 Christian schools in the Northeast and draws students from numerous towns across the state. It has a diverse student body that comes together to grow in knowledge, faith, and character within a loving, grace-filled environment.
We are seeking a dynamic and organized part time Library Teacher to lead and manage our Lower and Upper School library program while fostering a love of reading, research, and technology in students, for 7-10 hours weekly, Monday - Friday. This role includes teaching K–3 library and technology classes, collaborating with faculty, overseeing library resources and technology, managing volunteers and aides, and maintaining an engaging, student-centered library environment. The ideal candidate will have strong instructional skills, experience with educational technology and library systems, and a passion for supporting student learning within a Christian educational setting.
Responsible for Overall Library Program – Lower School
- Recruit, train, and oversee library volunteers
- Collaborate with faculty to support their individual programs
- Ensure the accessibility of current book and technology resources relevant to both teachers and students
- Maintain and enhance library spaces
Teach K-3 Elementary Librarian and Technology Teacher
- Develop curriculum and lessons to facilitate the love of reading both for pleasure and information gathering
- Working knowledge of application software such as Google apps for education, Google Classroom, word processing, spreadsheets, Google slides etc.
- Instruct students in the use of technology for informational research and report writing/development
- Coordinate instruction with classroom teachers regarding research projects/work
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, including a background in media technology.
- Knowledge of library services and operation of library collections
- Developmental knowledge of K-5 and appropriateness of leveled reading books
- Knowledge of technology and how to use digital and online resources for research
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Familiarity with the Google Suite applications
