Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation Assistance:
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food prep tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients.
- Portion and wrap food items as directed.
- Store food items properly in refrigerators or dry storage areas.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- Clean and sanitize workstations, countertops, and kitchen surfaces.
- Empty trash bins and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Stocking and Inventory:
- Ensure that all kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment are stocked and organized.
- Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries.
- Rotate stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste following FIFO Policy.
- Assist during busy periods by running food, refilling supplies, or performing other tasks as needed.
- Ensure that the kitchen remains clean and organized during service.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and fryers.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Compliance with Health and Safety Standards:
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and aprons.
- Adhere to all workplace safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects (up to 20kg).
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
