Kitchen Helper

Job Overview
We are a historic synagogue in NW Portland looking for a weekly kitchen helper to serve a pre-prepared buffet lunch on Saturdays. This is a temporary position that could lead to a permanent hire.

Duties

• Lay out the buffet lunch in the dining room, following any instructions for presentation
• Monitor food levels to ensure servings are replenished as needed
• Wrap and refrigerate leftovers
• Wash and put away dishes/silverware
• Straighten up dining area and vacuum
• Leave kitchen clean and organized
• Follow all safety protocols related to knife skills, cooking techniques, and sanitation practices
• Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment to uphold food safety standards
• Handle food items safely, following proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination

Experience

• Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential
• Basic knowledge of food handling, and kitchen safety procedures
• Friendly attitude and willingness to help guests with special requests
• Experience working in senior living culinary environment a plus!

Pay: $18.50 - $28.00 per hour
