Job Overview
We are a historic synagogue in NW Portland looking for a weekly kitchen helper to serve a pre-prepared buffet lunch on Saturdays. This is a temporary position that could lead to a permanent hire.
Duties
- Lay out the buffet lunch in the dining room, following any instructions for presentation
- Monitor food levels to ensure servings are replenished as needed
- Wrap and refrigerate leftovers
- Wash and put away dishes/silverware
- Straighten up dining area and vacuum
- Leave kitchen clean and organized
- Follow all safety protocols related to knife skills, cooking techniques, and sanitation practices
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment to uphold food safety standards
- Handle food items safely, following proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential
- Basic knowledge of food handling, and kitchen safety procedures
- Friendly attitude and willingness to help guests with special requests
- Experience working in senior living culinary environment a plus!
Pay: $18.50 - $28.00 per hour
