Job Description
Lab Engineer is responsible for the day‐to‐day running lab activities and operation; provide first‐line technical support and maintenance to ensure optimal operation of the lab. This role involves developing and conducting training programs, technical skills workshops and initiatives that foster engagement between different stakeholders and users of lab, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and maximizing opportunities for knowledge exchange in support of UAEU and UAEU SIP in support of the SIP’s core business Tasks and Responsibilities: *Conduct the operation and maintenance of various fabrication machines such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, PCB Milling machine and other equipment. *Utilise knowledge and experience in design & fabrication methods and materials and 3D mechanical design, to help design and manufacture high quality prototypes to customer specifications. *Design and implement engagement programs, workshops, and seminars to promote collaboration and innovation. *Prepare and deliver training sessions for students, entrepreneurs, and lab users. *Support ongoing projects by providing technical assistance and guidance to lab users. *Master and teach new lab capabilities for all lab equipment and design tools. *Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, 3D printers, CNC machines, and electronics workstations. *Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules and training sessions. *Ensure proper organization and inventory management of tools, machine usage, components, and consumables. *Ensure that all safety protocols are followed in the lab and during training, workshop sessions and visits. *Provide excellent customer service to lab users, addressing their questions and needs effectively. *Perform routine reporting monthly related to lab operation *Analyze data and produce reports to assess the effectiveness of engagement and programs. *Attend networking events, and workshops to represent the organization and promote its initiatives. *Create marketing materials and communication campaigns to promote engagement initiatives with the support of relevant internal stakeholders. *Coordinate meetings between the UAEU SIP and potential partners/stakeholders *Any other duties assignment by immediate line-manager and UAEU SIP management.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics), Manufacturing, Industrial Design, Information Technology, Certificated FabLab Trainer or related fields; Certification in FabLab Training is preferred
Preferred Qualification
Certification in FabLab Training *Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. *Ability to multi-task and solve time-critical problems * knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino). * Familiarity with fabrication technologies (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining) will be an added advantage.
