Laboratory Scientist/Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Laboratory Scientist/Manager to oversee and coordinate laboratory operations within a clinical or research setting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in laboratory techniques, assay development, and management practices, ensuring the delivery of accurate, reliable results. This role demands strong leadership capabilities, meticulous attention to quality assurance, and comprehensive knowledge of clinical and research laboratory procedures. The Laboratory Scientist/Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards while fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise laboratory staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of work.
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, including specimen collection, processing, and analysis, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety regulations.
  • Manage laboratory workflows utilizing Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for data entry, tracking, and documentation.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize assays such as LCMS (liquid chromatography mass spectrometry), PCR (polymerase chain reaction), flow cytometry, immunoassays, DNA/RNA extraction, DNA isolation, Lab automation, and other lab techniques.
  • Provide technical support for lab equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ensure rigorous quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes are implemented to maintain accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Coordinate with clinical teams on specimen collection procedures .
  • Maintain detailed documentation of laboratory procedures, results, and compliance records in document management systems.
  • Monitor inventory levels of reagents and supplies; manage schedules for equipment calibration and maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Enforce aseptic techniques and biosafety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Lead efforts in laboratory accreditation processes by implementing quality management systems aligned with industry standards.

Experience

  • Proven clinical or research laboratory experience with a focus on assay development and validation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LCMS and/or molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience managing laboratory teams with supervising or leadership responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and document management systems for data tracking and compliance documentation.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, vital signs measurement, and blood sampling procedures such as venipuncture.
  • Strong understanding of quality control/quality assurance practices within clinical laboratories or research settings.

Pay: $71,457.12 - $90,164.48 per year
