Land & Maritime Range Operations Manager

The Land & Maritime Range Operations Manager (ROM) provides comprehensive planning, coordination, scheduling, and execution support for all range-related activities supporting operations at Stennis Space Center. Serving as the central integrator for range utilization, the ROM coordinates closely with NASA Stennis range authorities, NSW-West range personnel, Government stakeholders, and participating units to ensure effective use of range resources in support of training, testing, exercises, demonstrations, and operational events.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage long-range and near-term operational schedules for training, testing, demonstrations, and exercises.
  • Ensure alignment of range utilization with mission priorities, operational requirements, and resource availability.
  • Coordinate use of maritime zones, land training areas, and supporting facilities to support mission execution.
  • Lead range support planning for exercises, demonstrations, testing activities, and operational events.
  • Develop range support plans, operational timelines, coordination checklists, and execution schedules.
  • Manage logistics and support requirements such as staging areas, launch and recovery sites, and coordination of support vessels.
  • Ensure all participating units and organizations understand operational procedures, access requirements, safety standards, and range constraints.
  • Provide real-time operational oversight during exercises and events to ensure adherence to schedules and rapid resolution of conflicts or operational issues.
  • Maintain effective communication between participating organizations, Government representatives, and support personnel during operations.
  • Coordinate risk assessments, safety planning, and hazard mitigation activities associated with range operations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, DoD, NASA, installation, environmental, safety, and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with safety offices, security personnel, and operational stakeholders to support safe and compliant operations.
  • Support incident reporting, corrective action tracking, and operational risk management processes.
  • Support after-action reviews (AARs) following exercises, testing events, and operational activities.
  • Capture lessons learned, operational observations, and recommended improvements.
  • Develop recommendations to improve scheduling efficiency, operational coordination, range utilization, and mission effectiveness.
  • Maintain operational records, reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Plan and implement range improvements, such as enhancements to maritime infrastructure, docking facilities, and land-based training assets.


QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting military training ranges, test ranges, exercise operations, or complex operational coordination environments.
  • Experience coordinating multi-agency or multi-unit operational activities involving maritime or land training environments.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and government operational scheduling/tracking systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Active Secret security clearance required; Top Secret eligibility preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Government credentials and installation access authorizations.
  • Up to 30% of travel is expected for this role, including overnight and out-of-state as required to support operations, customer engagements, or company initiatives.
