Job Overview
The Landscape Crew Lead oversees daily field operations for landscape installation and maintenance projects. This role combines hands‑on work with leadership, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards. The Crew Lead directs team members, communicates with business owner and clients, and keeps projects on schedule. The Crew Lead is trustworthy, timely, and reliable.
Duties
- Crew Leadership — Direct, motivate, and train crew members to complete daily tasks efficiently and safely.
- Project Execution — Oversee installation and maintenance tasks including retaining wall and patio construction, dirt and rock grading, planting, mulching, pruning, edging, hardscape prep, and seasonal cleanups.
- Quality Control — Ensure all work meets company standards and client expectations; perform site walkthroughs and final checks.
- Equipment Management — Operate and maintain tools and machinery such as skid steers, excavators, and trailers.
- Safety Compliance — Enforce safety protocols, conduct daily safety checks, and ensure proper PPE use.
- Client Interaction — Communicate professionally with clients on-site, addressing questions and reporting concerns to business owner.
- Logistics & Reporting — Track materials, document progress, complete daily job logs, and report issues promptly.
Required Skills
- Landscape Experience — 2–4 years of professional landscaping or groundskeeping experience.
- Leadership Ability — Proven ability to lead small teams and delegate tasks effectively.
- Hardscape Skills — Familiarity with paver installation, retaining walls, and grading.
- Technical Knowledge — Understanding of horticulture basics, plant care, and landscape installation methods.
- Equipment Proficiency — Skilled in operating commercial landscape equipment and performing basic maintenance.
- Physical Capability — Ability to lift 75+ lbs., work outdoors in varying weather, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Communication Skills — Clear verbal communication and ability to coordinate with team members and business owner.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Irrigation Knowledge — Experience troubleshooting and repairing irrigation systems.
- Technical Knowledge — Understanding of irrigation servicing and landscape lighting installation and servicing.
- Bilingual Ability — Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus.
