Job Title: Landscape Foreman
Job Purpose: The position of Landscape Foreman is first and foremost responsible for leading and managing landscape construction and/or softscape installation projects. Follow and uphold the company’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Manage the performance and quality of work for both themselves and all crew members on their crew. Meet or exceed client expectations and attention to detail on every job. Ensure the client is always informed and pleased with our work from start to finish. This position performs all essential job duties, leads Landscape Laborers and General Laborers assigned to their crew or job and reports daily to the Landscape Area manager and or Operations Manager.
Metrics to measure results: Success within the position will be measured
- Production Efficiency: Crew production hours measured against estimated hours. Job costing.
- Quality: Product overages, warranty prevention, return visit prevention.
- Organization: Tracking job hours, material purchases, turn in receipts, manage change orders.
- Satisfaction: Based on client reviews with Landscape Area Manager and overall customer satisfaction of completed work.
- Safety and Equipment care: Lost profit due to injury, equipment damage, improper maintenance or abuse, property damage as well as companywide preventable loss.
Essential Job Functions: Things you need to do
- Master all duties and requirements expected of the positions you will be leading.
- Arrive to the shop 20 minutes before your crew to load trucks/trailers and prepare for the day.
- Ability to choose trucks, trailers and equipment with proper capacity and load ratings for the job at hand, must effectively coordinate the equipment selected with other division Foreman.
- Provide quality customer service and attention to detail on every job every day.
- Follow and uphold our company Mission Statement, Vision and Core Values as a whole.
- Learn and master all aspects of your role and strive to make advancement within the company.
- Manage man-hour budgets on a daily/monthly basis to hit target goals deadlines and schedule.
- Foresee and proactively order materials added by client as a change order on original estimate.
- Install a variety of hardscape and softscape projects while following company procedures.
- Coach, train, lead and encourage team members to maintain a positive work environment.
- Communicate project steps and daily updates of progression with Landscape Area Manger.
- Be flexible and open to execute adjustments or changes from the client, job scope, weather or any other unexpected conditions and communicate changes to the Landscape Area Manager.
- Inspect work as completed to ensure quality standards and contract requirements.
- Complete a project walkthrough at the end of each project with the client and report job status.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are properly cleaned and put away at the end of the day.
- Repair tools equipment or submit repairs to the Shop Manager Immediately not at end of day.
- Maintain, fuel, grease, clean all heavy equipment your crew will be using on a daily basis.
- Recommend changes in working conditions or equipment to maximize work productivity.
- Alert Management of any problems related to projects or personal Immediately.
- Any additional requirements assigned by Landscape Area Manager or Operations Manager.
- Possess ability to manage all required tasks to ensure all job duties are completed daily.
Qualifications: This position requires
- Passionate about creating and maintaining beautiful landscapes for our clients.
- Must have mastered all duties and responsibilities of a Landscape Laborer and General Laborer.
- Must display motivation and possess self-starting ability to work individually or in a team of 2-5.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Chauffeurs Driver’s License. CDL highly preferred.
- Must have a fully operational, fully charged smart phone daily. iPhone highly preferred.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions doing very physical work.
- Must have a positive attitude, be dependable, timely and organized.
- Must maintain a safe work environment for you and all team members at all times.
- Must have ability to lift and carry up to 75lbs while bending/kneeling up to 10 hours a day.
- 2-3 Years of experience in the landscape industry installing landscape construction projects.
- Proven ability to manage landscape projects from start to finish on time and budget.
- Proven ability to comprehend and install landscape projects using scaled drawings and designs.
- Ability to gain and maintain Michigan Pesticide Certifications, Core, 3A, 3B and 6.
- Ability to identify commonly used landscape plants and trees.
- Mastery in operating a skid steer, attachments and other common landscape equipment.
- Utilize landscape managements best practices and techniques.
- Utilize technology (texting, email, phone apps) to your benefit.
- Work toward Industry Certifications for future advancement.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to accurately calculate square footage and volume.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
Compensation and Benefits: This position will receive
- Hourly pay rates for a Landscape Foreman range from $16-$19 per hour with a minimum required 40 hours per week.
- Overtime pay, (time and a half) above 40 hours per week.
- Holiday Pay, (double time) if required to work on company observed Federal Holidays
