About Us
Marian's Grass Cutting Services has been serving the Poconos since 2012. We have 50+ five-star Google reviews and a reputation for reliable, quality work. We're hiring one crew member for the 2026 season — someone who shares our standard for showing up, doing the work right, and not cutting corners.
The Role
You'll be the second person on our crew, working directly with the owner at residential and commercial properties throughout the Poconos.
The work is roughly 50% mowing on a commercial zero-turn mower and 50% weed whacking, plus leaf blowing as needed. Important: you won't start on the zero-turn. You'll prove yourself on the trimmer first. Once you've shown you're reliable and detail-oriented (typically 2-4 weeks), you'll be trained on the zero-turn and the work shifts to 50/50.
This is a physically demanding outdoor job. You'll be on your feet 7-12 hours per day in all weather — including summer heat (90°F+) and light-to-moderate rain. We only call off work for heavy storms, lightning, or genuinely unsafe conditions. If it's drizzling or raining lightly, we work.
Schedule
- Start Date: Immediately
- End Date: Early-to-Mid-October 2026
- Workdays: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday (4 days/week)
- Daily hours: Start at 8:30 AM. End time builds with the season:
- First few weeks: typically wrapping up around 4:30 PM (~8 hr days) while you learn the routes and our quality standard
- Once trained / peak summer: days can run until 8:30 PM (~12 hr days) to keep up with demand
- Weekly hours: 30-50 (overtime available at 1.5x once you cross 40)
- Hours start lighter in spring, peak in summer, and taper in fall
Heads up: This schedule includes both weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). You'll have Monday, Tuesday, and Friday off — but you'll be working when most people are off. Make sure that works for your life before applying.
The "Earn the Mower" Path
We treat the zero-turn as a privilege, not a right. Here's exactly how it works:
- Week 1-2: Trimmer only. You're learning our quality standard and our routes.
- Week 3-4: If you've shown reliability and attention to detail, you start training on the zero-turn at low-risk properties.
- Week 4+: Full 50/50 mowing and trimming once trained.
This protects our equipment, our customers' properties, and you. It also gives you a clear path to faster, less physically demanding work once you've earned it.
Daily Duties
- Operate a commercial string trimmer to trim around edges, fences, trees, flower beds, sidewalks, and driveways without causing damage
- Edge along sidewalks and driveways for a clean, professional finish
- Once trained: operate a commercial zero-turn mower at residential and commercial properties
- Use a backpack blower to clear grass clippings, leaves, and debris
- Help load and unload equipment at each stop
- Inspect every property before leaving — no missed spots, no clippings on the driveway
- Communicate with the crew leader about property issues, damage, or customer requests
- Show up on time and ready to work each scheduled day
