POSITION DESCRIPTION: Data Analyst I
SUMMARY: This position primarily performs routine data analysis in office and limited laboratory bench work related to a wide spectrum of clinical and/or analytic tests with the ability to work independently. This is a desk position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Training Phase:
- Complete on-boarding modules (e.g. Analyst SOPs and training presentations)
- Shadow Senior Analyst/Trainers and practice checking and analysis.
Training Progression:
- Gradually take on live samples under supervision.
- Pass proficiency assessment to transition to independent work.
- Achieve 500+ reports reviewed consecutively error free.
- Achieve 350+ samples analyzed consecutively error free.
- Achieve 100% accuracy across all client methods
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Testing Analysis: Interpret raw data from the LC-MS/MS in order to determine results for each patient.
- Requests and documents reruns for QCs or patient samples when raw data is unacceptable.
- Conduct statistical analyses and evaluate test results relative to specimen/sample information and established reference materials.
- Remains current on lab standard operating procedures.
- Contribute with processing data for split sample event(s) as needed (upon direction/approval from supervisor)
- Assist, contribute or lead special projects as needed to support team members (upon direction/approval from supervisor)
- Reporting Results: Enters patient results into report templates and checks template, patient demographics, and results for errors and inconsistencies.
- Reviewing Reports: Reviews test results confirmed by other analysts to ensure accuracy of patient records
- Customer Service: Provide consultation regarding the appropriateness of testing ordered and the interpretation of test results.
- Testing: Manipulate potentially hazardous human specimens/samples and analytic reagents in a safe and responsible manner within the laboratory setting.
- Safety: Follow all safety procedures and maintain safety equipment, as needed.
- Proficiency Testing: Performs proficiency testing whether through an approved program or intra-office. Analyzes and documents all proficiency testing data produced by LC-MS/MS in the same manner as patient samples.
- Trouble-Shooting: Assess potential problems that may arise in performance of testing and initiate appropriate action, as may be required.
- Quality Control: Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and periodically assess procedures and identify problems that may adversely affect test performance.
- Continuing Education: Participate in regular in-service training and appropriate education on laboratory safety and testing procedures

Education:
Bachelor’s degree with Major in a Laboratory Science: Biology or Chemistry preferred. If degree is in a Science other than Biology or Chemistry, must have the following credits completed in coursework:
--48 hours of science courses or MLS/MLT:
----12 semester hours of chemistry
----12 semester hours of biology
----24 hours of mixture Bio, Chem, MLS, or MLT
--24 credit hours of Lab Science
----8 Biology
----8 Chemistry
----8 Mixture of General Lab Science
--Undergraduate Transcripts required to progress in the interview process.
Experience:
- (1) Year - Clinical Laboratory Experience in Toxicology with testing performed on LC-MS/MS (Required)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position - hours of work are: M-F, 8am-5pm.
- Work Remotely - Optional after initial training completed (If remote, individual must be available to come into the office periodically as needed for training and/or other departmental needs)
Rate: $20-$22/hour
