LEAD DESIGNER
Your Role + The Opportunity
The Lead Designer will leverage their architectural expertise to ensure projects are designed and delivered within the scope and budget and aligned to the BHDP Design Process. Serve as the strategic leader of the design effort by creating innovative design solutions while developing client and team members towards design excellence and differentiation to achieve the client’s strategic results. The Lead Designer will elevate the client relationship, leveraging the firm's capabilities to cultivate additional design projects from existing clients.
The Role Priorities:
  • Responsible for leading the design effort on large-scale projects (net fees $2M and above) and ensuring delivery on all aspects of the design for the project that aligns with the client’s vision and goals.
  • Support the development of the firm through the growth of existing and new client relationships. Share firm expertise and design capabilities with existing and targeted clients.
  • Lead, manage, and maintain accountability with the team.
  • Maintain responsibility for fully embracing and executing the Design Process on all assigned projects, regularly monitoring the use of the Design Process and communicating the steps and benefits to the team and clients.
  • Partner with key leaders of the organization to align project requirements and budgets with employee capabilities and availability.
  • Responsible for continuously mentoring and developing direct reports and project staffing alignment with the firm’s cultural attributes and core values.
  • Actively participate in BHDP’s culture of continuous improvement by regularly sharing expertise, knowledge, and wisdom with internal team members.
Skills + Qualifications:
  • A professional, accredited degree in Architecture.
  • Architectural registration required with a minimum of 15 years of experience.
  • Identify and analyze problems, generating alternative solutions to make effective and timely decisions.
  • Deliver high client satisfaction, going out of your way to solve problems and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Plan and manage time to maximize efficiency and drive results.
  • Adapt and respond quickly to new situations with fresh ideas.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment to meet project deadlines.
  • Proficient knowledge of advanced technology (e.g., Revit, Sketch-Up, Enscape, Lumion, Rhino).
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, as needed.
