Lead Plumbing Technician

Reports to: Project Manager / Operations Director

Position Description Summary: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex plumbing systems. Lead technicians supervise work crews, ensure compliance with codes and safety standards, and coordinate with clients and contractors to deliver high-quality results. This is a night shift position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead installation, service, and repair of commercial or residential plumbing systems.
  • Read, interpret, and manage schematic diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee apprentices and technicians.
  • Assign tasks, manage schedules, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Conduct quality inspections and supervise job safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation: reports, materials, time logs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, and other trades.
  • Assist with estimating labor and materials for projects.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and training initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensed Journeyman Plumber (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of plumbing experience; supervising preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical documents and blueprints.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Commitment to safety and quality in all work.
  • Willing to travel, work weekends and nights, and be on call as needed.

Working Conditions: This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid, including but not limited to attics, crawl spaces, and confined locations. Must maintain a clean working space while inside or outside of properties. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. This position deals with different personalities in a highly competitive industry. A typical workweek is eight (8) to ten (10) hour work shifts, five (5) nights per week, as well as other shifts as needed. Technician must be willing to travel, work weekends and nights if job requires. Technicians may be called for emergency work after hours.

Accountability: LeadTechnician is accountable to the Project Managers. They will be held accountable for work truck that they work in and all tools and equipment they use.

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
