Lead Preschool Teacher

Overview

Sunshine Day Nursery School is under the governance and is a mission of the Greenbush Reformed Church. Since April 1979 our program has been committed to meeting the needs of young children and the families in our surrounding community. Sunshine Day Nursery provides a quality nursery school experience in a loving and safe environment while promoting each child's social, intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.

Sunshine is seeking to hire an enthusiastic and caring lead teacher for our preschool (3 year old) classroom.

Job Description

This position is a full time, 40 hours / week position. The set hours are 7:15am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday. An ideal candidate will arrive to work on time, dressed professionally / appropriately, and in a positive mindset.

This position starts at $20.00 / hr.

All staff at Sunshine are expected to be knowledgeable and follow NYS OCFS regulations, as well as follow Sunshine policies and procedures.

All staff are required to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the students in our care. Staff must provide competent supervision to the children at all times.

Lead teachers are expected to work cooperatively and communicate kindly / professionally with all staff, children, and families. Lead teachers will communicate with families via in person conversations, a communication app, and phone.

Preschool teachers are expected to create play based, child led, age and developmentally appropriate lesson plans. These lesson plans are to be submitted to admin in a timely manner, and posted for staff and families to see. We are currently following the Creative Curriculum and utilizing Heggery Phonemic Curriculum. Knowledge of these curriculums are preferred, but not required.

Other job duties include:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all families, students, staff, and the center as a whole;
  • Performing daily, basic cleaning duties in the classroom and shared spaces of the center;
  • Attending monthly meetings and professional development trainings as they occur;
  • Observe students and track their development;
  • Utilize developmental observations for annual parent teacher conferences and additional parent teacher meetings if needed;
  • Assist children with toileting and resting during rest period;
  • Stay up-to-date on NYS OCFS required trainings;
  • Strive to meet Best Practice Standards;
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of NAEYC code of conduct through daily interactions with children, families, and staff.

Requirements

  • Complete and pass NYS background checks and fingerprinting
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field OR Child Development Associate Credential (CDA)

Additionally:

  • First Aid and CPR training preferred, but not required
  • MAT Training preferred, but not required
