Position Overview

The Preschool Teacher for the 36–48-month class creates a warm, joyful, and intentional learning environment grounded in Reggio-inspired practice, developmentally appropriate instruction, and the core Judaic values that guide our school community. This teacher supports children as capable, curious learners and helps them grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, spiritually, and creatively.

The ideal educator celebrates wonder, questions, relationships, and hands-on exploration. All candidates—regardless of religious or cultural background—are welcome. A willingness to embrace the values of our school community, collaborate with colleagues, and engage families with respect is essential.

Responsibilities: Reggio-Inspired Teaching & Learning- Training Available

  • Implement a Reggio-inspired approach that views the child as competent, curious, and full of potential.
  • Create environments and provocations that encourage exploration, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration.
  • Use observation, documentation, and reflection to respond to children’s interests and guide emergent curriculum.
  • Incorporate open-ended materials, nature, art, and real-world experiences to deepen learning.
  • Encourage child-led questions and curiosity while supporting independence and self-help skills.

Integration of Judaic Values

No prior Judaic knowledge required—training is provided, and all are welcome.

  • Embed values such as kindness , gratitude , community, respect, and peace into daily routines.
  • Celebrate Jewish holidays with developmentally appropriate songs, stories, sensory experiences, and traditions.
  • Use Hebrew greetings and simple vocabulary during the day (support provided).
  • Model the warmth and respect reflective of our school mission.

Social–Emotional Learning & Behavior Guidance

  • Support children as they develop emotional regulation, empathy, cooperation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Use positive guidance, co-regulation, modeling, visual cues, and consistent routines to create a calm, predictable environment.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership and support staff when individualized strategies are needed.

Classroom Routine, Care, and Safety

  • Maintain daily rhythms that support autonomy, smooth transitions, and secure attachment.
  • Actively supervise children indoors and outdoors, following all state and school safety requirements.
  • Support toileting and self-help needs with respect, dignity, and patience.
  • Keep the classroom clean, organized, and aesthetically inviting.

Family and Community Partnerships

  • Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, conversations, and documentation.
  • Share observations of children’s growth in a warm, strengths-based manner.
  • Maintain professionalism, kindness, and confidentiality in all interactions.

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

  • Partner with assistant teachers, floaters, and team members to create continuity of care and learning.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and EC team reflections.
  • Follow all school policies and licensing standards.
  • Participate in special events such as Friends & Family Day, holiday programs, and community gatherings.

Qualifications

  • CDA, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Experience with preschool-age children (3–4 years).
  • Knowledge of or interest in Reggio-inspired philosophy.
  • Strong communication skills and a nurturing, reflective approach.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., sit on the floor, bend, and be physically active throughout the day.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and welcoming families of all backgrounds.
  • Openness to learning about Jewish values and incorporating them into classroom life (training provided).

Pay: From $38,000.00 per year
