Lead Quality Assurance Specialist

Federal Strategies, a rapidly growing small business in Fredericksburg VA, is seeking a hardworking detail-oriented individual to support the United States Marine Corps. Military experience with US ranges desired, particularly with the Range Managers Tool Kit (RMTK), be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Position Description:

The Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is the senior technical lead for software quality across mission‑critical tools and databases. The role drives QA planning and execution, process improvement, automation, and documentation; partners with engineering, database, and operational teams; and ensures releases and data products meet defined standards and stakeholder needs. Core duties include translating requirements into GitLab Issues/Epics (and Microsoft Planner/Lists tasks), validating tool functionality, ensuring data accuracy, and producing reliable reports and technical documentation. The Specialist also mentors teammates, resolves complex issues, and continuously enhances QA workflows to improve consistency, traceability, and throughput.

Experience Requirements:

Required:

• · Proven experience in software QA, data validation, and formal test plan development.
• · Hands‑on SQL database work (design/maintenance/extraction) and schema/documentation practices.
• · Ability to automate data workflows and reporting (e.g., Python/PowerShell) and integrate with GitLab exports.
• · Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills; independent, creative thinker.
• · Build and maintain technical documentation in HTML/CSS (images, links, structured navigation).

Desired:

• · Experience with Microsoft Access and migrating legacy data flows to direct SQL pipelines.
• · Familiarity with GitLab issue data and Planner task tracking.
• · Imaging/PDF tooling and generating PDFs or “chime” files from HTML (named destinations, index refs).
• · User manuals, release notes, workflow documentation; ArcGIS Pro familiarity is a plus.
• · Domain literacy in ranges/RMTK and related operational data.

Job Requirements:

The Lead QA Specialist will be responsible for:

• · Create and maintain test plans per tool; derive testable criteria from GitLab/Planners/Lists/OneNote inputs; prioritize and track resolutions bug resolution; produce Draft, Draft-Final, and Final outputs where applicable.
• · Maintain SQL resource databases (master builds, version tracking, nightly backups/rotation); run data comparisons across CSV/SQLite/SQL/MS Access and generate change reports. Update importers/parsers to load GitLab exports into the help desk SQL database and keep linked tables in sync.
• · Maintain software specs, data dictionaries (automated where feasible), and schema documentation; author user manuals (HTML/CSS) and produce PDFs/chime files; automate release notes and generate outstanding‑issues reports (including high‑priority variants); support operational reports (e.g., MSR/CMWG).
• · Provide advanced help desk support; upload/archive databases, manuals, and release notes to the Git server; tag builds and archive master database versions for each release; extract data for stakeholders.
• · Coordinate with SMEs to align tool behavior and data outputs; review SOUMs/ARSMMs for impacts; lead troubleshooting and continuous QA workflow improvement.
