Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote childhood development, social skills, and early learning concepts for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
- Lead daily classroom activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that encourages exploration and creativity.
- Monitor and support individual needs of children, including those with special education requirements or disabilities, ensuring personalized care and attention.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques, fostering respectful interactions among children.
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate children's progress, developmental milestones, and any concerns effectively.
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers or caregivers, providing guidance on classroom management and caregiving best practices.
- Maintain compliance with all licensing regulations, health and safety standards—including first aid procedures—and organizational policies to ensure a secure environment for everyone.
- Oversee daily routines such as diapering, feeding, nap times, and outdoor play while promoting independence and self-care skills among children.
- Support ongoing professional development by staying current with early childhood education trends, childhood development research, and caregiving techniques.
Experience
- Proven classroom experience in early childhood education or daycare settings with infants through preschool-aged children.
- Demonstrated expertise in classroom management, behavior management strategies, and creating engaging learning environments.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in childcare is essential.
- Prior experience in nannying or babysitting young children can be valuable but must be complemented by formal teaching or caregiving credentials.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as special education training are advantageous.
