Compensation Range:
$18.04 - $27.49Position Summary:
Hiring hourly range: $ 18.04 to $19.84 depending on qualifications.
Job Summary:
This position is primarily a customer service role. In accordance with library and college policies and procedures, this staff member provides front-line support to library patrons and performs a full range of circulation, information, and resource support services. Responsibilities include loaning and receiving books and equipment; assisting patrons with library resources, databases, and equipment; explaining and enforcing library policies and procedures; and compiling and maintaining inventory reports.
Job Duties:
Customer Service & Patron Support
Provides customer service to all library patrons
Answers patrons’ directional and informational questions
Assist patrons with the use of library databases
Assist patrons in operating library equipment as needed
Excellent communication skills
Library Policies & Compliance
Demonstrates familiarity with, and explains and enforces library and college policies and procedures to patrons
Assists with monitoring student conduct throughout the library and group study spaces
Circulation Desk Operations
Assists with all functions of the Circulation Desk
Checks books and equipment in and out
Maintains circulation desk statistics
Collections & Materials Management
Shelves, weeds, shifts, and performs shelf-reading of assigned sections
Maintains reserves collection
Equipment & Technology Support
Maintains and troubleshoots computers and printers in the absence of technical staff
Ensures equipment is maintained in proper working order in the absence of technical staff
Provides instruction in the use of loanable equipment (laptops, hotspots, webcams, headsets, calculators, binoculars, etc.)
Inventory, Databases, & Reporting
Maintains inventory databases for all loanable equipment (laptops, hotspots, webcams, headsets, calculators, binoculars, etc.)
Assigns and removes fines and holds across multiple platforms
Staff Training & Support
Aids in the training and supervision of student assistants and Part-Time Advanced Technician
Scheduling & Operational Coverage
Assists with closing duties
Works occasional Saturdays
Works evening shift
Minimum Qualifications
The position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of prior-related work experience.
