Job Description Summary
The Leave & Human Resources Specialist administers all aspects of Bridge’s leave of absence and reasonable accommodation programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. This role serves as the primary contact for employees and managers throughout the leave and accommodation process, delivering accurate communication, compliant documentation, and compassionate employee experience. In addition, this role supports general HR tasks as needed to ensure consistent employee support and workflow continuity.
This is a part-time, remote position offering flexible set hours (16–24 per week). Candidates must have hands-on experience with California leave laws.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
  • Administer all aspects of Leave of Absence programs, including PDL, FMLA, CFRA, Military, Workers’ Compensation, and personal leaves
  • Serve as the primary contact for employees requesting or on leave; engage in the interactive process for all leave and accommodation requests in compliance with ADA and FEHA.
  • Process and implement ADA and modified work accommodations, maintaining appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Coordinate and process Workers’ compensation leave and return-to-work activities.
  • Complete State Disability Insurance (SDI) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) verification requests.
  • Review, edit, and enter timekeeping adjustments for employees on leave.
  • Maintain and reconcile leave tracking logs and documentation.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure pay accuracy for employees on leave and resolve exceptions.
  • Manage reasonable accommodation requests and modified duty plans.
  • Process unemployment claims and state correspondence.
  • Assist with employee separations, ensuring accurate final pay and benefits updates.
  • Provide timely and professional communication to employees and managers regarding leave status, eligibility, and next steps.
  • Maintain employee records within the HRIS.
  • Support compliance audits and HR reporting as assigned.
  • Support HR on daily tasks such as employee files, uploads, etc.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding employee information.
  • Participate in HR team meetings, projects, and other initiatives/task as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Required:
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience administering California leave programs (PDL, CFRA, FMLA, ADA/FEHA).
  • Proficiency in Dayforce and/or other HRIS systems.
  • Residence in: CA, AZ, MI, TX, KY, MN, or FL.
  • Preferred:
  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation and leave tracking metrics.
  • Education:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of CA leave and accommodation laws.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
