Overview
The Legal Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys and staff within the Public Defender’s Office. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient case management and supporting the delivery of legal services to indigent clients.

Duties & Skills:

  • Strong computer proficiency, including email systems and case management software.
  • Ability to answer multi-line phones professionally and direct calls appropriately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills when interacting with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and office staff.
  • Experience drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents and correspondence.
  • Ability to open, organize, maintain, and close legal case files accurately and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet creation and data entry, including maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience uploading, scanning, filing, and managing electronic documents and records.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all administrative and legal support duties.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Customer service skills and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.

Pay: From $32.99 per hour
