Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. We are a small criminal defense firm with two attorneys. We have an opening for a full-time legal assistant. The ideal candidate is hard-working and eager to learn. The candidate should be proficient with basic computer programs, including, but not limited to: word, excel, outlook. Preferred experience with Clio.
Responsibilities
- Organization electronic files.
- Answer phones and return phone calls to prosective new clients.
- Submitting requests for records or funding
- Processing invoices, manage vendor invoices, rimbursements, and intake of new clients.
- Prepare procedural motions including notice of representation, discovery demand, and continuances
- Scheduling and confirming appointments with new and existing clients
- Scanning/processing documents
- Filing documents using courts electronic filing applications
- Coordinate new matter openings and closings.
Qualifications
- Paralegal experience or prior legal administrative experience is highly preferred. But no legal experience is necessary.
- Experience with document management systems like iManage and Clio or PCLaw is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Attention to detail in proofreading and transcription tasks.
- Effective interviewing skills for client intake or witness interviews when necessary.
- Familiarity with legal case management software and data entry procedures.
- Exceptional clerical skills including filing, document review, and maintaining confidentiality.
This is an in-house position; remote work on a continous basis is not an option.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
