Legal Secretary/Paralegal

Job description

JRSND is a prestigious law firm specializing in entertainment, business, litigation, and intellectual property. The firm, located in Century City, seeks a Legal Secretary / Paralegal to support three attorneys in the litigation department. An ideal candidate would have keen attention to detail and strong administrative, organization, research, and communication skills. Candidates should have a true interest and desire to learn about litigation and the practice of law. Applicants with relevant experience in a law firm environment are invited to apply. Required start date is June 1, 2026.

Responsibilities include:

- Secretarial functions including correspondence with clients, attorneys, internal staff, professional organizations, and external inquiries; preparing new client files, hearing notebooks, and court filings with exhibits; scanning, copying, faxing, filing, mailing, and the like;
- Managing and organizing attorney case files and documents in physical and electronic form;
- Serving and filing documents with the State and Federal courts;
- Coordinating, preparing, transcribing, formatting and editing documents properly and as needed;
- Maintaining attorneys’ calendars by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences and meetings;
- Researching, calculating, and calendaring important court deadlines and docket control;
- Communicating and obtaining information from clients, other attorneys or;
- Following-up on delegated assignments;
- Documenting and inputting attorney expenses;
- Covering phone lines for attorneys; and
- Other administrative tasks, such as making firm deposits, supply orders, or computer equipment servicing appointments, etc.

Qualifications must include:

- Bachelor's degree. Paralegal certificate is a plus. Experience working in a law firm or legal environment is a plus.
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Zoom, DocuSign, Dropbox. PCLaw experience a plus.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal).
- Understanding of legal terminology, familiarity with the Code of Civil Procedure, and formatting legal documents.
- Ability to multitask; flexibility with respect to changing priorities.
- Highly organized.

Compensation and benefits:

$20 - $24 per hour DOE

Hours: 8:30 – 5:30 M-F with 1 hr lunch

Benefits include: 10 days paid vacation per year; 6 days paid sick time per year; standard holidays

Paid parking within the building.
