Legal Transformation Project Manager

Position Summary

The Project Manager, Legal will support the day-to-day execution of a multi-workstream program to modernize legal operations (vendor contracts), with primary focus on the end-to-end vendor lifecycle (vendor onboarding/KYS, vendor contract review, workflow standardization, and operational governance). Working under the strategic direction of the Project Owner, this role applies Lean Six Sigma and change management practices to improve cycle time, quality, compliance, and stakeholder experience across Legal, Procurement, Finance, Security/Compliance/Privacy, IT, and business partners.

Core Responsibilities:

Program & Project Execution

  • Execute the legal transformation roadmap across process, policy/procedure, tooling enablement, and change management workstreams, following priorities and direction set by the Project Owner.
  • Maintain, and drive adherence to integrated project plans (milestones, dependencies, and critical path), RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, decisions), and concise status reporting for the Project Owner and participating stakeholders.
  • Run working sessions and decision forums; capture decisions, blockers, owners, and due dates; drive action-item closure and report back to the Project Owner.

Process Excellence (Lean Six Sigma)

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools (e.g., VOC, swimlanes/value stream mapping) to support workstream execution—confirming pain points quickly and translating them into implementable actions with the approval of the Project Owner.
  • Translate approved process changes into executable artifacts (SOPs, controls, checklists).

Vendor Contract Review Lifecycle Modernization

  • Assist with the implementation of streamlined vendor contract review workflows with Legal Supplier, Procurement, Finance, Security/Compliance/Privacy, IT, and Legal Operations—coordinating deliverables, testing, and cutover.
  • Monitor routing, SLA tracking, and escalations to drive adjustments with functional owners to improve predictability, standardize global process and turnaround time.
  • Monitor approvals to meet risk, security, privacy, and compliance requirements; manage exceptions, escalations, and remediation actions through closure.
  • Partner with Legal Operations and tool owners to deliver CLM/workflow changes (configuration, playbook updates, UAT, launch communications) and ensure sustained user adoption.

Vendor Onboarding & KYS (Know Your Supplier) Integration

  • Assist Project Owner partnering with the Procurement team on vendor onboarding and KYS due diligence steps (checkpoints, approvals, and documentation); track progress, and keep work moving.

Governance, Documentation, and Enablement

  • Assist with continuous improvement of SOPs, playbooks, templates, and quick-reference guides based on what is learned during rollout and steady-state operations.
  • Monitor alignment on roles, responsibilities, and RACI; socialize changes with stakeholders and ensure ownership and handoffs are followed in execution.
  • Support Project Owner with training, communications, and change activities; track adoption and stakeholder feedback, and coordinate follow-up actions to remove friction.

Key Stakeholders & Partnerships

  • Key partners: Legal teams (Legal Supplier, Legal Operations and Compliance), Risk Management (insurance review), Procurement & Finance, CRaaS, Privacy, IT, and business owners.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of project/program management experience in cross-functional environments.
  • Experience delivering process transformation and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Lean Six Sigma practitioner (Green Belt/Black Belt preferred).
  • Working knowledge of contracts and vendor contract review processes.
  • Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor and influence without authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vendor onboarding/KYS framework experience.
  • Experience operationalizing SLAs, routing rules, and dashboards.
  • Familiarity with CLM platforms and intake/workflow tools.
  • Scaled enablement experience (playbooks, templates, training).

Skills & Competencies

  • Process mapping, root-cause analysis, and problem solving.
  • Execution discipline (planning, tracking, documentation) with strong attention to detail and accountability.
  • Clear communication across legal, technical, and business stakeholders.
