OUR MISSION
Our mission is to ensure the physical, operational and financial integrity of the regional flood risk management system, in southeastern Louisiana as a defense against floods and storm surge from hurricanes. We accomplish this mission by working with local, regional, state and federal partners to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain projects that will reduce the probability and risk of flooding for the residents and businesses within our jurisdiction.

ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Levee Foreman C provides supervision, guidance, administration, and logistical support over a crew of Levee Foreman, Mobile Equipment Operators 1 and 2; Mobile Equipment Operators 1 and 2- Heavy; Mobile Equipment Operator-Light’s; Laborers; and any other SLFPA-E personnel assigned in the repair, maintenance, and modification of levees, flood control structures, and grounds and facilities under the jurisdiction of the SLFPA-E.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience as a mechanic, or in the alteration, construction, maintenance or repair of bridges, buildings, drainage facilities, grounds, levees, roads, or wharfs.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates work efforts of Levee Foreman and the work group to ensure maximum efficiency of manpower.

  • Follows up with Levee Forman to ensure that work is done safely and according to schedule.

  • Reviews work in progress and upon completion. Maintains records of work assigned to chart whether projects are being done according to schedule and in accordance with proper procedures.

  • Advises subordinate Levee Foreman of ways to improve efficiency and safety.

  • Receives general assignments regarding projects from the Levee Board Operations Superintendent.

  • Plans the details of the work project and assigns them to the Levee Foreman to be carried out. Checks on jobs in progress and upon completion to ensure work has been completed as assigned.

  • Plans work of subordinates. Monitors performance and counsel’s subordinates of deficiencies, if any, and advise of ways to improve. Evaluates employee performance and recommends appropriate corresponding actions.

  • Maintains all documentation to support evaluation and personnel/pay actions recommended.

  • Approves leave, maintains time and attendance reports.

  • Ensures that subordinate Levee Foreman and Heavy Equipment Operators properly plan, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinates.

  • Reviews documentation maintained by subordinate Levee Foreman to ensure correctness.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
