POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The purpose of the school librarian is to foster an inclusive, dynamic learning environment that empowers students to explore, create, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning. By providing access to essential resources, the librarian equips all students to excel in a rapidly evolving world.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The school librarian will have at least a bachelor's degree in Education and certification in Library Science. Experience as a librarian is desired.

Supervise students at all times.
MENTAL DEMANDS
An individual who holds this position must have the ability to identify the needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly. A librarian will read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures and forms, and governmental regulations and guidance. This person should also have the ability to maintain highly confidential information; communicate both orally and in writing, and/or the ability to reason and make appropriate decisions, as well as solve a variety of problems in many different situations, and have a strong attention to detail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to communicate and hear effectively in an environment with multiple simultaneous conversations and activities. Move throughout the library facility, including between shelves and workstations. Arrange and reconfigure library furniture to optimize space usage and create functional learning environments. Reach, bend, stoop, and kneel to access materials on various shelving heights. Lift and carry books, materials, and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally. See and read printed and digital materials, including extended periods of viewing computer screens. Manipulate objects requiring fine motor skills, including books, keyboard/mouse, and cataloging materials.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally, the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to provide supervision of students and required tasks as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year will be in accordance with the current teacher salary schedule and the Professional Agreement. Days employed in excess of the established work calendar shall be payable at the employee’s regular daily rate.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
