Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) builds community by promoting the joy of reading and learning. Serving as the civic center of the community, LCPL provides free and equal access to a full variety of library resources and innovative technologies to enhance the quality of life and meet the informational, educational, and cultural interests of the entire community.
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree is required; two (2) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience, including leadership of staff and daily operations of public-facing services, is required. A master’s degree in library science is preferred; previous work experience and supervision in a library setting is preferred; experience with staff development and performance management is preferred; a thorough knowledge and understanding of trends, best practices, and emerging issues in public libraries is preferred.
Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Ability to lift books and other materials and move heavy book carts. Some bending and stooping required. Successful candidate will undergo criminal background, credit and DMV record checks.
Hold or obtain a Notary Public license within one (1) year of hire. Passport acceptance agent certification may be required within one (1) year of hire. Hold or obtain certifications to be a librarian in Virginia, in OSHA, and in related technology. Desire Project Management Professional (PMP) and CPR certificates. Prefer bilingual skills in Spanish/English.
