Step into a unit where teamwork, dialogue, and positivity drive exceptional care. Our Gastroenterology Unit specializes in caring for patients with a wide range of GI and hepatic conditions, as well as those recovering from endoscopic and GI surgical procedures. Nurses on this unit play a key role in managing complex cases while supporting patients and families through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
You’ll gain hands-on experience with:
- Caring for patients with GI bleeds, liver disease, Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, and pancreatitis
- Managing patients before and after endoscopic and GI surgical procedures
- Administering and titrating IV therapies, including blood products and specialized drips
- Monitoring patients with advanced GI and hepatic conditions
- Providing patient education on disease management, nutrition, and lifestyle support

What We're Looking For:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Graduate of accredited Practical Nursing Program, required.

Experience: One year of relevant experience, required.

Licensure/Certification: Appropriate state LPN license, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. CPI certification within 3 months of hire for Behavioral Health departments, required.

- Computer skills, Phone call etiquette, Organizational Skills.

Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

Behavioral Health units' requirements only

Ability to intervene in a therapeutic manner for behavior patterns demonstrated by patients with a mental illness, personality disorder, substance abuse or developmental disabilities.

Knowledge of psychiatric medications, side effects and treatment interventions, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, mental health concepts, and evidence based therapeutic interventions and treatments. CPI certification within three months.

Ability to establish and maintain control of violent patients, defend self and others against violent assaults, ability to react appropriately in psychiatric crises, ability use violent and non-violent restraints per policy and procedure.
