Overview:
UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown Hospital
Full-time Night shift, 12 hour shifts 7PM-7AM. 36 hrs/week, every 3rd weekend requirement and holiday rotation

Eligibile for a $5,000 sign-on bonus paid over 1 year.

Responsible for providing safe and reliable patient care, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Assists the RN in the nursing process, consistent with accepted and prevailing practice, which includes monitoring, observing, and reporting reactions to the patient’s plan of care. Performs tasks or skills which fall within the scope of practice of a licensed practical nurse.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the RN, providers, and the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, coordinated patient care and achieve goals of care.
  • Seeks guidance and supervision when performing new or unfamiliar techniques to ensure best practices.
  • Collects and reports accurate, timely objective and subjective data to support the RN-led assessment and care planning process.
  • Supports patient comfort, safety, and well-being by identifying needs and contributing to appropriate interventions.
  • Administers medications and performs clinical tasks within scope of practice and policy.
  • Communicates changes in patient condition promptly to the supervisory RN and contributes to updates in the plan of care.
  • Completes real-time, multidisciplinary documentation to reflect progress toward goals and ensure continuity of care.
  • Conducts detailed, safety-focused hand-offs and communicates effectively with providers during rounds and as needed.
  • Integrates patient and family education throughout hospitalization—including procedures, goals of care, discharge needs, and preventive health practices.
  • Tailors teaching strategies to patient age, culture, readiness to learn, and comprehension, consulting hospital resources for specialized education when appropriate.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Completed an accredited LPN program.
License(s)/Certification(s):
  • Possess current LPN licensure in the State of Iowa or compact state.
