What you will be doing

The Maintenance Lead plays a critical role in ensuring smooth operations at our pasta and sauce production facility. This position oversees maintenance activities to keep our lines running efficiently, ensuring that every batch of pasta and every jar of sauce meet the highest quality standards. The Maintenance Lead will coordinate preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and lead a team dedicated to minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

The position will be based in Merced, CA.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance operations in accordance with company policies and food safety regulations.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work for maintenance team members; address internal concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Communicate updates and issues to the Plant Maintenance Manager through clear written and verbal reports.
  • Schedule and ensure completion of preventive maintenance (PMs) in PMC system to keep pasta and sauce lines running smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate daily maintenance records for compliance and operational tracking.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial food-manufacturing equipment, including mixers, extruders, cookers, and packaging machinery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure consistent production of high-quality pasta and sauces.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and new technologies to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Repair mechanical and electrical issues; fabricate and modify equipment as needed to support production demands.
  • Replace worn or broken parts and assist with ordering processes to maintain inventory for critical components.
  • Interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and blueprints accurately for complex systems.
  • Work with pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, welding, and boiler systems essential for pasta cooking and sauce preparation.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and food safety standards.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company guidelines (OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, HACCP, etc.).
  • Support production of safe, high-quality pasta and sauce products through proper equipment maintenance.

What we are searching for.

  • We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in food processing.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment repair and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets.
  • Working knowledge of Heat Transfer, Material Handling, and Fluid Mechanics relevant to pasta cooking and sauce preparation.
  • Ability to interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills for industrial food-processing equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Automated Control Systems (PLCs and PCs) preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships preferred.

Pay Transparency:



Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.


  • For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
