About the Role

As the Manager – English Learning Experience Design, you will lead the pedagogical and creative direction for K–12 English learning experiences across storybooks, activities, assessments, and interactive modules.

You will mentor a team of Learning Experience Designers, drive end-to-end content quality systems, manage complex pipelines, and ensure all learning experiences are joyful, classroom-ready, culturally grounded, and pedagogically robust.
You will shape how millions of children across India learn to read, comprehend, speak, listen, and use English confidently.
This role blends leadership, pedagogy, creativity, user research, storytelling, and operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities

1. Pedagogical Vision & Creative Direction

  • Define instructional strategy and pedagogical principles for all English learning formats.
  • Lead creative ideation for story-driven, interactive, and AI-enabled English learning experiences.
  • Design age-appropriate, culturally relevant literacy experiences aligned with language development progressions.
  • Mentor English LXDs on writing quality, storytelling, scaffolding, clarity, and child-centric design.
  • Set the tone, visual direction, and instructional style for English content across formats.


2. Design English Learning Experiences
(

  • Turn English concepts (reading, vocabulary, phonics, grammar, speaking, listening) into engaging stories, games, and activities.
  • Develop storyboards and end-to-end learning flows blending pedagogy with creative storytelling.
  • Use instructional design principles to create clear, scaffolded, age-appropriate learning experiences.
  • Work with design, audio, and tech teams to translate concepts into high-quality interactive content.
  • Ensure content aligns with curriculum goals, supports multi-level learners, and reflects how children actually learn language.


3. Quality Assurance & Instructional Rigour

  • Own the final review and sign-off for all English learning content.
  • Ensure linguistic accuracy, age-appropriate readability, conceptual depth, and engaging flow.
  • Maintain quality benchmarks across storybooks, games, interactives, and assessments.
  • Provide clear, structured, actionable feedback to writers, illustrators, animators, voice artists, and developers.
  • Build review systems to ensure consistency across multiple LXDs and projects.


4. Collaborate to Build Learning Experiences

  • Work closely with illustrators, animators, voice artists, and developers to bring storyboards to life.
  • Translate scripts and learning goals into clear creative briefs and interaction flows.
  • Align visuals, audio, and interactivity with English learning objectives and real classroom contexts.
  • Coordinate cross-team workflows to ensure smooth production and delivery.


5. Pipeline Ownership & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Manage the entire English content pipeline across storybooks, interactives, games, and assessments.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Unity, QA, Marketing, and Voiceover teams for seamless execution.
  • Plan and forecast timelines, dependencies, and workloads across multiple parallel projects.
  • Ensure timely delivery without compromising pedagogical or creative quality.


6. Learn From Learners

  • Lead or support user/classroom research with children, teachers, and facilitators.
  • Use insights from reading behaviour, comprehension challenges, speaking/listening difficulties to refine designs.
  • Incorporate feedback loops to improve content pacing, clarity, scaffolding, and engagement.


7. Innovation & Experimentation

  • Stay updated with global trends in English pedagogy, literacy science, and digital learning.
  • Bring fresh, creative concepts, formats, and prototypes to English learning design.
  • Experiment with new storytelling formats, interaction patterns, and behaviour-based learning models.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging tools, including AI-assisted content creation.


Who We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in English learning design, literacy development, curriculum design, instructional design, or educational media.
  • Strong pedagogical grounding in K–12 English (phonics, reading fluency, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, listening & speaking).
  • Experience mentoring or leading learning designers or writing teams.
  • Ability to manage content pipelines, review cycles, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Strong command of English writing, simplification, and age-appropriate storytelling.


Good to Have

  • Experience in EdTech or large-scale English curriculum programs.
  • Familiarity with instructional design, cognitive science, and user research methodologies.
  • Classroom or field experience with English learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with AI-assisted content creation (bonus).
