We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Technical Data Platform Manager to lead and support a dynamic team of data professionals, including Databricks Architects, Platform Administrators, and specialists in Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Control-M. This role is pivotal in driving the design, implementation, and optimization of our enterprise data platform, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability across our data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a cross-functional team of data engineers, architects, and platform admins.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Define team goals, KPIs, and performance metrics aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Platform Strategy & Governance
    • Own the end-to-end technical strategy for the data platform, ensuring alignment with business needs.
    • Oversee governance, security, and compliance standards across all data platform components.
    • Collaborate with enterprise architects and data governance teams to enforce best practices.
  • Technical Oversight
    • Provide architectural guidance and hands-on support for Databricks-based data engineering and analytics solutions.
    • Ensure optimal configuration and performance of Azure SQL databases and ADF pipelines.
    • Manage Control-M scheduling and orchestration for data workflows and batch processes.
    • Lead platform upgrades, patching, and incident resolution in collaboration with IT and DevOps.
  • Project Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Partner with product owners, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and delivery roadmaps.
    • Manage vendor relationships and licensing for platform tools and services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, platform management, or related roles.
  • 5+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity overseeing technical teams.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Databricks (architecture, performance tuning, security)
    • Azure SQL (design, optimization, monitoring)
    • Azure Data Factory (pipeline orchestration, data integration)
    • Control-M (job scheduling, automation)
  • Strong understanding of cloud data architectures, especially within the Azure ecosystem .
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in data environments.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools (e.g., Purview, Collibra).
