Location: Bangalore (Full-time)

Reports to: Director - Programs

Experience Required: Approx. 8 years (in IT applications)

About Makkala Jagriti Makkala Jagriti is an award-winning, Bengaluru-based NGO working towards providing holistic development and learning opportunities for children and youth from marginalized communities since 2003. The organization works with government schools, Anganwadis, childcare institutions and urban poor communities enabling access and experience of quality education to the children and youth directly, while also influencing systems and actors to become child-centric, inclusive, and holistic in their approach. Role Summary

Makkala Jagriti is on an ambitious growth path - both in terms of expanding its reach and deepening its impact. As part of this growth, we are strengthening Systems and Processes as well as adoption of technology within the organization. We are looking for a dynamic, committed, enthusiastic and results-oriented individual to become a key part of the exciting growth journey in the position of Manager IT & MIS. The Manager - IT and MIS is a key leadership role driving and contributing to the development, deployment and adoption of technology systems for various processes and functions in the organization. This role will be central to enabling the organization to become more efficient, data driven and technologically equipped to grow and scale in size and impact. The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of technology adaptation for workflow management, software development life-cycle, use of MIS, coordination and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Sustaining and streamlining existing IT applications

● Develop a quick and comprehensive understanding of the current IT landscape within the organization - applications based on Zoho, Google and other NGO specific technology platforms

● Streamline the applications for operational efficiency and increased adoption

● Develop and implement a road-map enhancing and developing the IT usage for various functions in the organization - HR, Procurement, Grant Management, Volunteer management, Communications, etc - on Zoho and/or competitive platforms

● Coordinate within the organization and with technology partners for enhancements in the modules, wherever required Lead and drive custom building of new IT applications

● Lead requirements gathering and sign-off for custom-developed platforms supporting Makkala Jagriti’s core programs.

● Coordinate with outsourced development partners for application development and implementation.

● Ensure that the solutions developed are user-friendly, relevant and easy for field-staff to adopt and use

● Oversee the piloting, iterative testing and full-scale role out of the solutions

● Monitor solution adoption, ensure business continuity, and manage ongoing support, enhancements, and bug fixes. MIS Generation and Reporting

● Design and deliver periodic and ad-hoc Management Information Systems (MIS) reports to meet statutory compliance and funding agency requirements.

● Enable trustees and senior management to monitor program efficiency and effectiveness.

● Develop self-service MIS dashboards integrated with messaging platforms for ease of access.

● Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of all MIS outputs.

● Maintain secure and reliable data back-up mechanism IT Infrastructure & Security

● Oversee IT hardware, software, networks, and cloud services relevant to program operations.

● Ensure data privacy and compliance with laws such as GDPR, DPDP Act (India), etc.

● Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies and best practices—access control, password policies, device management. Assess and mitigate risks and ensure security compliance. Field visits, Coordination, Training and Support

● Collaborate with Program and M&E teams to understand indicator frameworks, assessment tools, and reporting requirements and reflect these accurately in the system design.

● Travel to field centers across Karnataka as required to understand program needs, support implementation, and ensure adoption of IT solutions

● Lead and conduct internal trainings on IT applications for team members

● Coordinate with all functions of the organization to ensure their needs and issues and support accordingly

● Create User Guides, SOPs and training manuals relevant to the organization Other

● Stay up to date with latest technology trends in the industry and bring best practices within the organization and recommend upgradations where necessary

● Plan and manage the annual IT budget of the organization

● Promote the culture of smart and ethical technology use within the organization Success of the role

● Seamless functioning and enhancement of current IT systems.

● Successful rollout and adoption of new custom platforms for core programs.

● Ensuring that the tech is enabling monitoring, assessment and measuring of relevant program impact and also contributing to organizational efficiency.

● Management Information Systems (MIS) reports consistently meet compliance, donor, and management needs in a timely and accurate manner.

● High user satisfaction with IT applications and MIS tools.

● Proactive identification and resolution of IT and reporting challenges.

● Effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

● Strong support for Makkala Jagriti’s expansion and transformation goals. Who you are Qualifications, Experience and Skills

● Graduate - Engineering or degree in Computer Applications

● 6 to 10 years of experience in IT Project Management, Systems deployment or Enterprise Solutions Industry implementing IT applications

● Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience developing or supporting MIS/reporting systems

● Prior work experience in Ed-tech and Not-for-Profit sectors is an advantage

● Exposure to social / development sector is an advantage Personal / Behavioral attributes ● Exceptional coordination and communication skills .
