Job Purpose:
To lead and manage end-to-end production activities in sheet metal, angle, and structural fabrication, ensuring delivery of high-quality components on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily fabrication activities involving sheet metal, angles, channels, beams, and structural assemblies.
- Ensure production schedules are aligned with customer delivery timelines and project deadlines.
- Optimize shop floor layout and workflow to improve productivity and reduce cycle time.
2. Technical Oversight
- Interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and quality standards (AWS, ASME, ISO).
- Supervise cutting, bending, welding (MIG/TIG/ARC), drilling, and assembly processes.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
3. Resource & Manpower Planning
- Allocate manpower and resources efficiently to meet production targets.
- Guide and supervise welders, fitters, machine operators, and fabricators.
- Develop training programs to upskill workers in fabrication techniques and safety protocols.
4. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control processes, including in-process and final inspection.
- Liaise with QA/QC to resolve non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and certifications.
5. Cost & Efficiency Improvement
- Monitor material utilization and scrap reduction.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis).
- Control operating costs while maintaining production efficiency and product quality.
6. Equipment & Maintenance
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance of machines such as press brakes, shearing machines, CNC plasma cutters, and welding equipment.
- Identify needs for new tools or upgrades to existing machines for improved performance.
7. Safety & Statutory Compliance
- Enforce strict EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards on the shop floor.
- Conduct regular safety drills, toolbox talks, and hazard identification assessments.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Education: Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience: 8–15years in heavy fabrication, with hands-on experience in sheet metal, angle/section, and structural steel fabrication.
- Industry Preference: Heavy Engineering, Infrastructure Fabrication, Construction Equipment, Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB), or Steel Fabrication units.
