JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Materials Specialist

Department: Operations

Reports To: Purchasing and Inventory Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Prepared Date: December 2025

Summary

Reporting to the Purchasing and Inventory Manager, the Materials Specialist helps stock, organize, and track the supply chain and inventory as well as assembling and delivering board kits in support of the Production Plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), SDS (Safety Data Sheets), Company Policies, and Department Standard Operating Procedures
  • Follows industry standards for ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and MSL (Moisture Sensitivity Level) protection while handling electronic components and/or assemblies
  • Performs all daily tasks in the Materials department
  • Put away materials in warehouse using barcode scanners
  • Creates and update part labels
  • Issues and tracks scrap percentages for kits
  • Monitors for, communicate issues, and expedites part shortages
  • Updates inventory locations as needed
  • Proper use and updating of kit split list
  • Fill engineering/production part requests
  • Assists with Month End Inventory
  • Assists with Annual Inventory
  • Performs inventory cycle counts as required and material recounts for inventory reconciliation
  • Sets dry boxes to bake
  • Prepares materials for internal move transfers and disperses them when received
  • Checks for and removes expired materials
  • Utilizes first in and first out practices. Checks and recognizes materials that are near expiration date and alerts Production for use
  • Assists with purchasing functions
  • Assists with purchase order placement
  • Assists with tracking parts
  • Assists with generation, shipment and tracking of vendor RMA’s
  • Deliver parts to vendors as needed
  • Uses and troubleshoot issues in pc/MRP materials management software
  • Looks up part information in Microsoft Access Database
  • Monitors cleanliness and organization of warehouse and workspace
  • Communicates with management for continual improvement
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work well under pressure; meeting and completing multiple deadlines, and must demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors

Education and Experience

High school education or General Education Diploma required. Two years of related experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access) desired.

Licenses and Certifications

Must have, and be able to maintain, a valid Driver’s License.

Have manual dexterity and steady hands working with small hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers
