JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced and skilled Mechanic I to join our Utilities team. We are looking for someone with at least two years of semi-skilled mechanic experience. Preferred skills include mechanical and electrical knowledge, hand and power tools skills, welding, soldering, plumbing-pipe fitting skills, welding or electrical certifications, and experience with pumps, rotating equipment, or steam systems .
As a Mechanic I, you will perform semi-skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance work within a power plant and chilling station environment. Working under close supervision, this role assists with the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of plant equipment, utility systems, chilling station, and distribution systems. Duties include supporting trade personnel, completing basic corrective tasks, maintaining repair records, identifying safety hazards, and keeping equipment and work areas clean.
Work Location : Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.
Shift Requirement : Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with on-call availability for emergency repairs.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Education
High School Diploma or vocational school. or

Experience
2 years semi-skilled level experience.

JOB DUTIES
Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of plant equipment or utility systems.
Performs preventive or corrective maintenance tasks incidental to operation of mechanical, electrical or utility tunnel distribution systems in accordance with established procedures.
Maintains records of equipment repair.
Works in conjunction with trades or craft personnel in support of systems within power plant, chilling stations, utility tunnels or other underground utilities.
May complete work orders using automated maintenance program systems.
Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems or deficiencies.
Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas.
Identifies and reports safety hazards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
