Position Summary
The Mechanical Designer is responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical designs for plating and anodizing systems, translating conceptual ideas into detailed, manufacturable solutions. This role ensures equipment meets customer requirements, engineering standards, and safety regulations, while supporting sales, installation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full mechanical system design using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor, including layouts, floor plans, detailed components, piping diagrams, and installation drawings.
- Ensure all designs comply with customer specifications, engineering standards, and safety requirements.
- Prepare sales drawings and conceptual layouts to support the Sales team.
- Design standard and custom polypro plating barrels and stainless-steel phosphate barrels; maintain standard barrel drawings.
- Support installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and follow-up activities at customer sites.
- Recommend improvements to mechanical designs and stay current with AutoCAD and Inventor features.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and use computer equipment for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of parts or samples up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to visit installation sites or manufacturing areas safely.
- Strong focus and concentration to produce accurate drawings.
- Capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Problem-solving mindset to address design challenges and field issues.
- Primarily office-based with a standard work environment.
- Occasional visits to manufacturing floors or customer sites with exposure to typical industrial conditions, including noise, dust, or chemical processes (with proper PPE).
Travel
Up to 10% travel may be required to support installations, customer visits, and troubleshooting.
Required Education, Experience, and Training
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor required.
- Prior experience in industrial equipment or system design preferred.
