Position Title:

MEP Construction Engineer

Department: Engineering / Construction

Job Description:

1. Job Summary

The MEP Construction Engineer is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and executing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works at the project site. The role ensures that all MEP installations are performed according to approved drawings, specifications, QA/QC requirements, safety standards, and project timelines.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Planning & Coordination

  • Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications for MEP works.
  • Plan daily/weekly work activities in coordination with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, and other engineering teams to avoid conflicts and ensure smooth execution.
  • Attend technical, coordination, and progress meetings with consultants and subcontractors.

B. Site Execution

  • Supervise MEP contractors and ensure works are executed as per approved drawings and method statements.
  • Monitor material deliveries, verify compliance with specifications, and ensure proper storage.
  • Ensure installation of HVAC, electrical, fire-fighting, plumbing, ELV, and other MEP systems as per standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure workmanship meets required quality.

C. Quality Assurance & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit inspections (IRs), RFI, MIRs, and ensure timely approvals.
  • Monitor compliance with QA/QC procedures and project requirements.
  • Maintain daily site reports, progress tracking, and documentation of work completed.
  • Review and verify as-built drawings and O&M manuals.

D. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all MEP works are executed in compliance with safety regulations and company HSE policies.
  • Identify and report unsafe practices and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and ensure workers follow safe work practices.

E. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • Coordinate testing and commissioning activities for all MEP systems.
  • Assist in resolving snags, NCRs, and ensure timely closure.
  • Support the final handover process, including documentation and client training.

3. Required Qualifications & Skills

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.

Experience:

3–10+ years of experience in MEP construction projects (depending on level).

Strong background in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire-fighting systems.

Experience in high-rise, commercial, industrial, or hospital projects is preferred.

Skills Required:

Knowledge of MEP design standards and local authority regulations.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management tools.

Strong coordination, communication, and reporting skills.

Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Additional Requirements (Optional)

UAE/GCC experience and knowledge of local codes (DEWA, ADDC, DHA, Civil Defense, etc.)

Valid UAE driving license

Certification in PMP, LEED, or relevant MEP courses , building codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC).
