Hiring Salary: $ 105,000-$114,000 annually
Position Summary:
The Museum Maintenance Supervisor reports to and works under the general supervision of the agency's Facilities Director with moderate latitude for the use of imitative and independent judgement. Performs complex managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of the Museum Maintenance department. Oversees the Museum's Maintenance staff, including scheduling and assigning work, requisitioning materials and supplies, and ensuring equipment reliability through a strong preventive maintenance program. Performs hands on maintenance work, technical diagnoses and troubleshooting as required. This individual must also be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary, results-driven team. Must be able to set priorities and be flexible. Displays excellent verbal and written communications skills and maintains a professional and respectful approach when interacting with other employees, visitors, and the public. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.
*Work hours are based on the Museum's 360 day-per-year schedule and may include weekends, evenings and/or holidays, including on short notice. Must be able to work extended hours in order to be considered.

If an individual is qualified to perform the essential job duties, the individual must be able to perform the essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.· Supervise, train, and evaluate Museum Maintenance staff, ensuring high-quality work, productivity, and adherence to performance standards.
· Conduct and support regular facility, building, and equipment inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and long-term operational requirements.
· Plan, assign, and oversee maintenance activities, performing hands-on tasks as needed and managing workflow through the work-order system.
· Ensure compliance with safety and security regulations, including OSHA and agency guidelines, while promoting a safe environment for staff and visitors and assisting with emergency response or evacuations.
· Manage and evaluate the museum’s preventive maintenance program, ensuring proper care and longevity of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
· Serve as construction liaison, reviewing construction documents, coordinating departmental input, and supporting effective communication during construction or renovation projects.
· Oversee procurement, inventory, and responsible use of materials and supplies, ensuring adherence to purchasing policies and ethical standards.
· Collaborate on policy, guideline, and continuity-planning development, providing technical expertise to enhance facilities operations and mitigate agency risks.

Knowledge
· Building maintenance practices, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and sanitation.
· Federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
· Preventive maintenance principles and facility management best practices.

· Procurement procedures, inventory control, and ethical purchasing standards.

· Walk throughout the Museum and Capitol Complex.
· Work in extreme temperatures including hot and cold. Exposure to damp, wet or moist conditions and inclement weather.
· Perform visual inspections and manipulate equipment that may require fine motor skills coordination and eye-hand coordination.
· Climb, pull, lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, push, stretch, stoop, kneel, recline, bend, squat, and reach.
Required Education and Experience
· High school graduate or equivalent.
· A minimum of 10 years of experience in general maintenance, facilities operations, or construction, including work with physical/central plant equipment and machinery, scheduling, and supervision.
· At least 7 years of supervisory and program administration experience.
· 5 years of HVAC and electrical troubleshooting experience, including knowledge of control systems.
· Demonstrated background in preventive maintenance and maintenance oversight.
Preferred Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or completion of a trade school program.
· Previous experience performing complex plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs, ideally in a museum or service-industry environment.
