About Us

We operate two concepts: a high-end Japanese restaurant in Los Altos and a premium Japanese-inspired café in Palo Alto. Both locations focus on quality, consistency, and guest experience. We are expanding the team and looking for someone dependable, organized, and capable of managing daily operations across both stores.

Role Summary

The Restaurant Operations Manager oversees day-to-day operations, staff coordination, scheduling, training, and maintaining service standards. This role also supports basic HR and payroll tasks, helps implement systems, and works closely with ownership to keep both locations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily FOH operations at both locations
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff
  • Build staff schedules, manage attendance, and approve hours
  • Assist with payroll submissions and basic HR administration
  • Maintain service standards and guest satisfaction
  • Implement checklists, SOPs, and workflow improvements
  • Monitor inventory and assist with vendor ordering
  • Coordinate with chefs/kitchen leads to ensure smooth service flow
  • Handle customer concerns professionally and quickly
  • Support opening/closing procedures and daily organization
  • Work with ownership on operational projects and new initiatives

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of management experience in hospitality, café, or restaurant settings
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Organized, consistent, and detail-oriented
  • Able to multitask and manage two locations
  • Comfortable with light HR work and basic payroll tasks
  • Calm under pressure and solutions-focused
  • Reliable transportation between Los Altos and Palo Alto

Preferred but Not Required

  • Experience with Japanese cuisine or high-end dining
  • Familiarity with Gusto, Tock, Square, or similar systems
  • Ability to assist with training materials and onboarding guides

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
