Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and personable Optometric Front Desk and Optical Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in delivering exceptional patient care while managing the daily operations of our optical practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in optometric medical office procedures, optical services, and patient interaction, ensuring a seamless experience for patients from check-in to eyewear selection. This position offers an engaging environment where professionalism, efficiency, and compassionate service are paramount.

Duties

  • Greet and check-in patients efficiently while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Collect and verify patient information, including medical history, insurance details, and demographic data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist patients with optical needs by providing product information, explaining lens options, and guiding eyewear selections.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms to document patient interactions accurately. Revolution EMR experience helpful
  • Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate with clinicians to optimize daily clinic flow.
  • Handle insurance billing, coding, and medical records management with attention to detail and adherence to privacy standards.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and aseptic technique within optical dispensing areas to ensure safety and hygiene standards are upheld.
  • Promote retail sales of eyewear products through knowledgeable recommendations while applying retail math principles for effective upselling.
  • Support clinic operations by performing front desk duties, including answering phones, managing patient flow, and processing payments.
  • Prior experience in medical office settings, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics.
  • Knowledge of optical products, lens technology, and eyewear fitting procedures.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other healthcare software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to eye health, and clinic procedures.
  • Ability to perform intake assessments, take vital signs accurately, and apply aseptic techniques during patient interactions.
  • Experience with HIPAA compliance to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service excellence.
  • Background in retail sales or retail math is advantageous for promoting eyewear products effectively.
  • Knowledge of medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic services is preferred but not required.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
