The OSP Fiber Designer will be responsible for designing, planning and implementing outside plant (OSP) fiber networks (FTTH). This role requires a thorough understanding of fiber optic network design, construction, and maintenance, as well as proficiency with VETRO FiberMap software.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Plan and design OSP fiber optic networks (FTTH), including route analysis, network topology, fiber allocation and detailed engineering.
  • Utilize VETRO FiberMap to create and manage fiber optic network designs (FTTH), including but not limited to maps, splicing reports and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Prepared detailed engineering maps, specifications and bill of materials using VETRO FiberMap.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network design and deployment.
  • Ability to utilize survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other geographic data for consideration in FTTH design.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and industry best practices.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in OSP engineering and fiber optic network design.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proficiency with VETRO FiberMap software is required.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic network components, installation techniques, fiber splicing and industry standards.
  • Experience with fiber allocation/splicing reports.
  • Understanding of jurisdictional records and how to interpret them.
  • Knowledge of permitting and regulatory requirements for fiber optic network construction.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Job Type: Full time

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Compensation: $60,000 to $75,000 per year DOE
