Out of School Support Specialist/After School Teacher

The Out of School Support Specialist is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for Kindergarten through 6th grade students during the 21st Century Program's STEM-focused After School Program at Par Excellence STEM Academy. This role involves planning and leading age-appropriate activities, supervising students, assisting with homework, and fostering positive social-emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all students in the program according to Children’s Hunger Alliance, state licensing agency and Afterschool director’s expectations.
• Maintain consistent supervision of students in the program.
• Lead structured activities, including enrichment, academic support, recreation, and creative projects as assigned by the afterschool director.
• Provide homework assistance and encourage a productive learning environment.
• Model and reinforce program rules, expectations, and positive behavior.
• Create an inclusive environment that supports diversity, respect, and cooperation.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
• Assist in organizing special events, field trips, and celebrations as needed.
• Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and progress records.
• Support the overall mission, goals, and policies of the afterschool program.

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate would have experience working with elementary-aged students in a school, childcare, or after school setting.
• Willingness to complete training and certifications required by the 21st Century grant and Par Excellence STEM Academy (first aid, CPR, etc.)

Hours:

The Out of School Support Specialist is a part-time position from 2:15-6:15 PM Monday through Friday. This role can be combined with a part-time Teaching Assistant position during the school day for a full time position.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week
